About Dreena / Contact

My love of cooking started when I became vegetarian. In the last ten years I have studied food and cooking techniques, and how to create delicious vegan fare.

The foods and techniques I use are set out in an easy-to-read and do format in my two cookbooks. My bestselling debut cookbook, The Everyday Vegan: Recipes and Lessons for Living the Vegan Life, is now in its second printing. It is a collection of the best ideas and recipes I developed after switching from a standard North American diet to a vegan diet. My latest release, Vive Le Vegan! Simple Delectable Recipes for the Everyday Vegan Family, features recipes that require less time and attention without sacrificing flavor or nutrition. The fact that most recipes were created with a busy toddler underfoot is testimony to how easy they are to make!

My recipes were created for real people to use. As a self-taught cook, I know that many approaches are either not practical or over the heads of most people. Indeed, the most satisfying moments for me are when I get feedback from people like you either in a note online, or in person at a food demo, saying that you are able to use one or more of my ideas or recipes in your own daily food planning.

Thank you for visiting my website and your interest in my work. If you would like to e-mail your feedback, please do so. Your comments help shape the recipes I create in the future. If you are still considering whether to purchase either or both books, you might be interested in these reviews including some by people such as yourself.

Dreena’s Bio
Dreena was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland in a family of six sisters. Brought up on a standard North American diet, becoming a vegan cook was not an obvious career path. In fact, after graduating from university with a degree in Business Administration, she worked as a Sales Manager for an international satellite telecommunications company. In 1999 she focused her energies on vegan cooking and has since published two cookbooks. She has appeared on national television and radio in Canada, and has spoken and demonstrated at food festivals in Canada and the United States. She lives with her husband and two children, in the Pacific Northwest, just north of the Canada / U.S. border in White Rock, British Columbia.
