Vive le Vegan! Simple, Delectable Recipes For the Everyday Vegan Family

I wrote Vive le Vegan! after the birth of my first child. As a new mom, I learned more about whole grains, beans, hemp foods, healthy oils, and found new ways to cook with less preparation time and stovetop attention. Of course, flavor could not be sacrificed, so I created new recipes that were delicious and unique, and let the oven or food processor do most of the work!

Vive le Vegan! includes:

  • Recipes featuring whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds (including hemp), and using a variety of grains and flours. Favorites include Apple Oat Pancakes, Portobello Bagel Melt, Apple-Hemp Muffins, Easy Pleasin’ Oat Bars, Roasted Yellow Pepper Sauce, Cannellini Bean Yam Hummus, Quinoa Spring Salad, Roasted Tomato Bean Stew, Chickpea Ratatouille, Greek Basmati Rice, Tomato-Lentil Pasta Sauce, Apple Cardamom Cake with Lemon-Maple Frosting, Chocolate Hemp Squares, and Double Chocolate Almond Explosion Cookies.
  • Identification of wheat-free recipes and options for wheat-free modifications.
  • Use of hemp seed nut, hemp seed nut butter, and hemp seed oil in selected recipes, and a "Hemp Foods" information section.
  • A "Feeding Your Vegan Baby and Toddler" section that includes a Food Introduction Guideline and detailed notes on introducing solid foods to your vegan child from 6 months to 2 years to minimize allergic reactions and provide a wide variety of nutritionally sound vegan foods.
  • A foreword by Erik Marcus, author of Meat Market: Animals, Ethics, and Money, and publisher of Vegan.com

Vive le Vegan! will be released in November 2004. Pre-order online or contact my publisher to have your favorite bookstore carry it.
